Pigs in blankets are a big favourite on Christmas day in our house.
They make a great accompaniment to turkey as part of the main course.
You can buy them at most good supermarkets, but they are also super easy to make.
Like seriously easy.
So easy it’s safe to give them to the kids to make.
Here’s how to whip up a batch of pigs in blankets to add to your Christmas menu.
Easy Pigs in blankets recipe
Serves: 12 – 18 people
Time: 5 minutes prep, 30 minutes cooking time
I always opt for high welfare organic meat.
- 24 cocktail sausages
- 1 packet of smokey bacon rashers (around 8 – 10 slices)
Preheat the oven to 375 F/190 C
Cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper
Use a meat chopping board.
Lay the slices of bacon side by side and stretch each rasher out.
Cut each slice into thirds.
Wrap a cocktail sausage tightly in one third of the bacon.
You can use a wooden cocktail stick to ensure they stay wrapped.
But usually the grease in the meat seals the blanket if you place them seam down on the baking tray.
Pop the pigs in blankets into the oven.
Cook them for around 20 minutes.
Make sure the sausage is thoroughly cooked and the bacon is crispy before you serve them.
