Planning a cute afternoon tea party for your teen and their friends? Perhaps it’s for a birthday celebration or just as a fun way for your teen daughter and her friends to hang out.
While a table brimming with cakes and other sweet treats is bound to be the focus, it’s still great to have some party games up your sleeve to make sure the party is super fun.
I’ve put together a shortlist of party games that work really well for a group of teen friends at a tea party. I’ve included some classics and a smattering of more recent favourites.

Here’s a few ideas for games that work well for teens at a tea party.
1. Tea Bag Toss
Inspired by Minute To Win It, this game is a mini version of cornhole. Instead of beanbags, players toss tea bags into teacups.
Set up the teacups at one end of the table and have guests stand at the other end, taking turns tossing tea bags for 60 seconds.
2. Tea Party Charades
Bring the fun to life by having party guests act out different characters or activities while the others try to guess what they are.
It’s a great way to get everyone involved and laughing, especially if you theme all the prompts to the tea party.
3. Sugar Cube Challenge
Another Minute To Win It style game, the Sugar Cube Challenge involves stacking sugar cubes.
Each guest tries to build the tallest stack without it toppling over. How high can they go before it falls?
4. Pass The Parcel
Perfect for a group seated around an afternoon tea table, this classic game has been entertaining kids since the beginning of time and there’s no reason for it not to amuse teenagers… especially if you’re clever with the treats and gift.
Fill each layer with small treats and place a special gift in the centre—think on teen coveted items like lip gloss or nail polish!
5. Selfie Scavenger Hunt
A Selfie Scavenger Hunt is always a hit with tweens and teens. Create a list of items for the guests to capture on their phones.
The first person to complete the list wins!

6. Word Games
Word games offer a laid back way to keep teens entertained during afternoon tea.
Here are a few that are sure to get those brain cells buzzing:
Word Scramble
Write down anagrams of words related to afternoon tea parties and challenge guests to unscramble them.
New Little Words
See how many smaller words guests can create from the phrase “Afternoon Tea Party” in 60 seconds.
Cake Scattergories
Find words in various categories that start with each letter of the word CAKE. For example, a dessert, a celebrity, or a city beginning with the letter C.
Want to make life easy on yourself? You can find all three word games, plus five other fun activities, in this Tea Party Games Bundle For Tweens And Teens.
