Candy Salads: the party and sleepover snack kids can’t get enough of

So I learned something this weekend… salad isn’t always healthy. Especially if you make it solely out of candy. Yep, Candy Salad. It’s a thing. A huge thing.

Naturally this super sugary snack trend started on TikTok and it is continuing to dominate as the snack du jour for tweens and teens.

I became savvy to it just a few days ago (yep, I’ve been slacking on my TikTok scrolling) after noticing a super sweet scent upstairs in our house.

On investigation, I found a giant bowl of assorted candy in my teen daughter’s room, put together by her and her friends for the sleepover that night.

How to make a candy salad

For the lay person, you may think there is nothing more to making a candy salad than chucking an assortment of different unwrapped candy in a bowl.

And hey, you can do it this way.

But, of course, there are TikTokers who have made it into an art form.

They put an emphasis on creating salads that are cute and aesthetic (when did that word takeover the world?!)

They go with themes, like colour themes or candy decades (90s candy being HUGE at the moment).

Then there’s the presentation.

Ideally the salad needs to be in a clear bowl, so that everyone can marvel at the beautiful aesthetic and how cute it is.

But, if you don’t have a clear bowl, a fancy bowl is a great alternative.

Add a final flourish of a large serving spoon and give everyone a little dish to serve their candy into.
