Whether you’re looking for easy (but spooky) Halloween pumpkin decor, creepy treats, or thrilling games, this quick guide has everything you need for a memorable Teen Halloween Party.

Easy Halloween decor for a Teen Sleepover

Creating a spooky yet cosy atmosphere for a Halloween Sleepover Party doesn’t need to be complicated.

Teens will love the fun and eerie vibes that can easily be achieved with a few simple and budget-friendly Halloween decor.

Here are some ideas to transform your space into the ultimate Halloween Slumber Party setting:

DIY Haunted Picture Frames:

Take some old photo frames, spray-paint them black, and insert spooky images or silhouettes (think ghosts or haunted houses). Hang them on the walls to give your space a haunted, mysterious feel.

This Dollar Tree Spooky Picture Frames video tutorial is great:

Glowing Pumpkins:

Instead of carving pumpkins into Jack O Lanterns the traditional way, use LED Jack O Lanterns to give a soft, spooky glow for the sleepover (much safer than hoping live candles don’t get knocked over!).

Scatter them throughout the room for an inviting autumnal atmosphere that’s perfect for a fall sleepover.

String Lights and Fake Cobwebs:

Create a dim, eerie ambience by draping string lights around the room. Combine them with fake cobwebs hung over doorways or across ceilings to give the room a haunted look, while still keeping things fun.

Black and Orange Balloons:

Keep the decor simple but effective with clusters of black and orange balloons.

Add a spooky twist with glow-in-the-dark balloons, like these orange, white, green and purple spooky balloons.

Food and Drink

No Halloween Sleepover is complete without some spooky yet delicious snacks and drinks to appeal to a teenage palate.

Teens will love these creative, fun treats that are not only easy to make but also perfect for sharing.

Mummy Hotdogs:

Wrap hotdogs in strips of puff pastry, bake until golden, and dot on eyes with mustard or ketchup to create these easy and fun snacks.

Monster Cupcakes:

Bake a batch of cupcakes, then decorate them with bright green or purple icing, edible googly eyes, and chocolate sprinkles to create a fun monster look.

Go one step further and set up a Spooky Cupcake decorating station so sleepover guests can personalise their own cupcakes.

Witches’ Brew Punch:

Create a non-alcoholic Witches’ Brew punch and float some creepy garnishes in it…

  • Sprite or lemon-lime soda
  • Green Gatorade or Powerade (for the green)
  • Gummy worms, jelly eyeballs, assorted other Halloween candy
  • Whipped cream

Serve in a cauldron-style punch bowl or in drinking size Mason Jars.

Halloween Candy Bar:

Set up a DIY candy bar where teens can create their own treat bags in place of going out trick or treating.

Fill the bar with classic Halloween sweets like candy corn, gummy worms and sour gummy treats, like this brilliant bar by @aristyleforu

Halloween Charcuterie Snack Board

If you want to get right on-trend and down with the TikTok Teens, layout a Halloween Charcuterie Snack Board, like on of these in my roundup…

Halloween Movies for Teens (Aged 13-16)

No Halloween Sleepover Party is complete without a movie marathon, and teens will love a night filled with spooky yet fun films.

Here are some top picks for a teen movie night that strikes the perfect balance between Halloween chills and enjoyable entertainment:

  • Hocus Pocus (PG): A Halloween classic that’s full of magic, witches, and just the right amount of spookiness. It’s light-hearted and perfect for teens who want a fun and festive film without anything too scary.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG): This Tim Burton favourite is great for a Fall Sleepover because it blends both Halloween and Christmas themes. Teens will love the quirky characters and enchanting visuals.
  • Beetlejuice (12+): This fun but creepy comedy about a mischievous ghost is perfect for teens looking for something a little weird but not too frightening.
  • Coraline (PG): A beautifully animated, slightly eerie movie that follows a girl’s journey into a mysterious parallel world. It’s full of spooky twists that will keep teens entertained.
  • Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (12+): For teens ready for something with a bit more suspense, this movie offers mild thrills without being overly intense. It’s based on the iconic book series and will add a dash of spine-tingling fun to the night.

These films offer a great mix of Halloween-themed fun and mild chills, creating the perfect line-up for teens aged 13-16.

I’ve also got a roundup with my curation of Halloween movies for all ages if you want to find something a little spookier.

Set up some cosy blankets, dim the lights, and serve some popcorn to complete the movie marathon experience.
