SUSTAINABLE PARTY BAG FILLERS AND FAVOURS KIDS WILL LOVE
If you are keen to use environmentally friendly party bag fillers and make sure that they are plastic-free wherever possible, take a look at my list of the 43 best eco-friendly party bag filler ideas for kids’ party bags.
Whether we like it or not, party bags are a big part of kids parties, especially birthday parties.
If you’re keen to keep up the tradition of handing out a party bag at your child’s party, don’t want to spend a fortune on them, but equally don’t want to fill them with future landfill, this list is for you.
I’ve scoured the internet to come up with a big list of brilliant eco-friendly party bag fillers and favours that you can pop into party bags, safe in the knowledge that you aren’t filling the bags with plastic tat and stuff is bad for the environment.
A big part of the eco-friendly thing is ensuring that whatever we buy gets used and not just discarded.
So I’ve focused on finding things you can put in party bags that kids will actually like and use, rather than five-minute wonders.
WHAT MAKES THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY PARTY BAG FILLERS?
You can go down various routes to ensure the stuff you put in the party bags is eco-friendly.
Books are always a winner; both journals kids can write in and books to read (my favourite party bag filler tip is to buy a boxset and divide it up, the Mr Men boxset is a particular favourite with Mums Make Lists readers)
Seeds are another winning idea, and there are now myriad dressed-up ways of buying seeds, from seeds in gift boxes to personalised packets and little grow-your-own gardens.
Paper craft-based toys are another brilliant eco-friendly bag filler idea. There are so many lovely little paper craft kits out there if you know where to look (I do!).
I also love clever little baking kits for kids; they are brilliantly eco friendly and great if you want to give a party favour instead of filling a party bag.
And, of course, going down the route of sweet treats is always a great eco friendly way to fill party bags. The classic slice of birthday cake in a party napkin should never be overlooked.
Baking your own biscuits is another option, as is buying things like sweetie jewellery.
Anyway, enough of my musings. Here is my big long list of eco friendly party bag fillers that you can use to create wonderfully environmentally-friendly party bags to smugly hand out at your child’s birthday party 😉

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO USE ECO-FRIENDLY PARTY BAG FILLERS?
I think we all understand that it is vitally important that we reduce plastic consumption for future generations. But it can be easy to make exceptions when we’re frantically trying to organise a kids’ party. The thing is that if everyone has the attitude of ‘oh well, just this once’, nothing really changes.
That’s why I’ve tried to cut out the hard work of sourcing eco-friendly fillers so that you don’t ever have to get caught short. Using sustainable products in place or cheap plastic means less stuff ends up in a landfill.
Plus, lots of eco-friendly fillers are more usable than cheap plastic stuff that is easily forgotten. So choosing eco-friendly fillers is clearly the best way to ensure the kids are given something they like and use and the planet doesn’t suffer from yet more plastic waste.
